Fire Prevention Bureau & Public Information

"An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure"-Benjamin Franklin, 1736.

We strongly believe that preventing fire through education and inspection is far more cost effective and safer than dealing with a loss.

The fire prevention bureau oversees all of the public fire education conducted within the city. With the use of our fire safety house, Marietta City Schools are visited in October, during fire prevention week. The fire safety house is also used at safetytown each year, along with visits at other locations and events throughout the year.

Marietta Firefighters Local #442 solicit donations which are used to provide a smoke detector to every child in kindergarten.

The fire safety house has the capability to teach storm safety procedures in addition to fire safety.

Our inspection program allows commercial properties to receive a fire safety inspection in order to reduce fire risk. During those inspections information is gathered which we share with our staff to help them understand building hazards. If a property is in violation with the Ohio Fire Code then provisions are made to achieve compliance.
