NOTICE OF JOB AVAILABILITY

JOB TITLE: Seasonal Laborer Part-time DEPARTMENT: Public Works

JOB CLASS: Temporary PAY RANGE: $12.00 an hour (29 hrs/week)

NATURE OF WORK AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Performs general manual labor, pickup truck driving and light equipment operation, related to the streets and alleys, public lands, buildings and cemeteries. Duties include: mowing grass, cutting weeds, hauling trash, digging and other miscellaneous tasks as required.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE POSITION: The work in this position is routine and consists primarily of manual tasks to provide building and ground maintenance. The duties require the ability to do heavy physical labor efficiently. Supervision is received both from department heads and higher classified employees serving as lead workers on a particular project assignment. Work is outlined both orally and in writing with performance checked by inspection of duties performed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance activities. Willingness to perform routine manual work. Possess the ability to use hand tools and light equipment. Ability to understand simple oral and written directions. Capable of lifting heavy objects. Ability to read and write. Must be in good physical condition and able to work for extended periods of time. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the State of Ohio to operate a city vehicle.
